Parallel parked behind a F250, trucks gone but it left this.

Looks like I be putting the front plate holder back on.

Probably leaves his hitch on all the time, even though he hasn’t moved a trailer in over a year.

And here is my argument for Mercedes’ new fold-away trailer hitch.

I’m sorry that happened to you. Peoples suck.

Gotta love parking by feel.

I’ll also add it was rusty/dented, so they probably drove away with no fucks given.

Oh man, that’s some shit. Go to O’reilly’s and get some color matched spray paint and some clearcoat and color-match your plate holder. Should make it blend in a little bit better!

Where did this happen?

My new 300D, 1987. I showed a woman in an Isuzu how she banged my car with her door by demonstrating the perfect fit between the door. She told me to go fuck myself. Took her plate number - should have asked my buddy, at MD state trooper, to do something, but I just had it fixed.

People do suck.

I think I should add “does it look good with a rally light bar?” on my next car checklist.

Sucks, man. And bumper covers are nearly impossible to find.

I always take a picture of the lisence plate of a vehicle I think might hit my vehicle. It’s came in handy twice.

If you feel up to a nice little project you could go buy a plastic welde, remove your bumper and push it even and weld from the rear. Maybe buy some color match paint too. But that sounds a million times more complicated and. More expensive than your choice.

That thought has crossed my mind actually. Not too much work and it will make me feel a little better about putting it back on.

I passably color-matched new door handles on my Mustang using Duplicolor paint/ clear coat. It’s pretty easy, actually. Or get a Mercedes-Benz vanity plate and put it on the front ;D

In midtown Detroit, off the beaten path at a new bar too. I was honestly questioning what the truck was doing there while I was parking behind it.

Good on you for getting your merc fixed. My car isn't new or old enough to be worth it.

before doing that check what kind of plastic it is first. if it’s PC-ABS you’re good to go, but if its a PP (polypropylene) or PE (polyethylene) blend you’ll have a bitch of a time getting any paint to stick to it. PP and PE are very solvent-resistant (PE is what gas tanks are made of) and the paint can’t “bite.”

I try to do this too, I use my phone as a dash cam, I usually zoom in on any cars that look suspect before I turn it off.

Really sorry to hear about that. We were on the opposite side of this sort of thing once, some lady said that we had nicked the door of her Civic LX with our rental Town and Country but there was nary a paint scratch. Exchanged information, called AAA, and wasted ten minutes for nothing. While she definitely overreacted, I don't condone what's happened to your Crossfire. Hope you can get it looking amazing again!

Ha yea I don’t think that much effort is worth it. Its a 12 year old car with 160k on the clock. I’ll just go with the plate holder for now.

Time to mount a claymore behind the front plate with a pressure switch. Next guy will learn the hard way.

Covering the hole with the plate holder is a pretty slick idea. Hope it works out for you. And now I have something else to look out for on my next used car purchase...

But the only way it would help is if the car whose plate you took a picture of also has damage right? In cases like this, when some jackass jabs your car with a tow hitch, there won’t be any damage and you won’t have any proof.
